Practical Tip #13- Challenging Behaviors Are New Problems to Solve

Yes there are behaviors that can be challenging!  It is good to step back and assess the situation.  See if you can come up with an alternate way for your child to express his or her interest.  Sometimes, I request input from therapist when I have no idea what to do.  Some challenges our family has dealt with: destroying book, diaper issues, paper, and kitchen cabinets. (In later post I will share what we have done.)

Just the other week we encountered a new problem to solve!  Tristan wanted to pop balloons.  I ran out of balloons.  Brian remembered he had packaging from a box.  It was the kind of plastic filled with air.  Viola!  It was a hit!  Tristan was able to “pop” fake balloons.  He was content and satisfied.
